Don't worry about rising fuel price, all our bicycles and scooters use electricity. The cost is about 0,05 Euro per charge (60 km average range of Li-ion battery).

Can I ride up hills riding on Algardi electric bicycle ?
All Algardi electric bicycles have good climbing capacity, you can climb up to 18%.

How far can I go on a single charge ?
30Km (17 miles) of travel in pedal assist mode for lead acid or Ni-mh battery pack. 60 Km (40 miles) if powered by Li-ion batteries. Range will reduce if:

• The rider weight exceeds 75kg
• Rough terrain, no flat road, hills and or headwinds
• Stop and go commuting
• If ambient temperature is higher or lower than 20deg C
• Bad weather conditions, snow, wind or rain
• Using the throttle direct mode (it is forbidden in Europe, it will decrease the range by 50%
• Frequent use of the brakes

Why the electric motor on an Algardi electric bicycle is on rear wheel ?
There are 3 motor configurations for electric pedal assisted bicycles: front mounted hub motor, rear wheel mounted hub motor, and between pedals motor. We prefer rear wheel configuration because of:

• More balanced and superior traction
• Better handling when raining than front wheel configuration
• More traction control when climbing than front wheel configuration
• Less noise than between pedals configuration

What is a brushless motor ?
Most electric bicycles use the lower cost, high maintenance brushed motors (carbon brushes make contact with the rotor of the motor causing friction and reducing its efficiency. We use only the best and most technically advanced solutions in all vehicles. We prefer brushless maintenance free motors to have high performance, maximum efficiency, maintenance free, no deterioration over time, much smaller and lighter than brushed motors.

What kind of battery is the best ?
Before buying an electric bike or electric scooter you should decide what kind of battery is the best for you. You can find on the market 3 different kinds of batteries, Li-ion battery, Ni-mh battery, or lead acid battery, having different performances and costs. Ni-cad is now forbidden for recycling problems. All Algardi bikes have detachable batteries for easy charging. Algardi electric bikes range depends on a lot of factors: kind of battery, headwind, terrain, driving style, range varies from 30 to 60 km for single charge. The memory loss is associated with Ni-cad batteries, Algardi electric bike batteries don't have memory loss problem, we don't use Ni-cad batteries.

The rechargeable lithium battery is the most advanced battery today. The greatest advantage of the lithium battery is its high energy density, it allows us to put on our bikes very small and light battery pack without reducing range per single charge. Price is high if compared to lead acid batteries, because of the complex production techniques and high raw material costs required to produce this battery.

How long does it take to charge the battery ?
2-3 hours for Li-ion and Ni-mh battery, 5-6 hours for lead acid battery.

What is the battery lifetime ?
200 charge/discharge cycles for lead acid batteries,400 for Ni-mh batteries, 800 for Li-ion batteries.

How often does the battery need to be charged ?
Lead acid batteries must be kept fully charged, so it is better to charge after each ride (charge every 2 months if you don't use bike for a long time). Ni-mh and Li-ion batteries have no problems.

Do electric bicycles recharge when downhill ?
The bicycles generate current when freewheeling, but frankly it is a little and you will notice no effect.

What maintenance is required for an Algardi electric bicyle ?
Use same attention you have for any conventional bicycle.

Can I wash my Algardi electric bicycle ?
All parts are waterproof, anyway we recommend that you use a soft cloth without spraying the bicycle with water.

Is it required to have specific skills to change a tyre on an Algardi electric bicycle ?
No, same skills for any conventional bicycle.

What are the legal requirements about an electric bicycle to ride on public roads?

• The bicycle must weigh les than 40kg including batteries (Europe only)
• Maximum speed must not exceed 25km/h according to EU rules, 25mph according to US rules
• The motor power must be max 250W in EU, 350W in US, 180W in Japan
• The motor must stop when you stop pedaling (Europe only)
• Trhottle is forbidden (Europe only)
• Riders must be 14 years old

Do I need to wear a crash helmet when riding an electric bicycle ?
Not in Europe, but we recommend that you wear a cycle safety helmet when ridingIn a few US states and Australia, you must wear a safety helmet (please check local laws).

What kind of license is required to have to ride an Algardi electric bicycle ?
No licence is required to ride an Algardi bicycle

When you ship electric bicycles, are they fully assembled ?
Each vehicle is well packed for a secure shipping, pedals and handle bar usually are removed for optimum loading. It's very easy to put together.

What about warranty terms ?
