Algardi Bikes: electric motor power assisted bikes
The electric bikes or electric power assisted bikes are a new category of vehicles that offer most of the advantages of ordinary bikes, but operate as small motorcycles. The electric pedal assisted bikes satisfy the needs of people that take care of pollution and are becoming very popular in big cities. All our electric bikes are street legal worldwide. The law regards electric bikes as standard bikes, therefore, you don't need a license, registration, or insurance. You can ride electric bikes anywhere; street, bike path, trail, it is a vehicle of freedom! Hills and headwinds are no problem. The bikes couldn't be considered a serious option to a car, but now a powerful motor turns the ordinary bike into the ideal vehicle for urban mobility. Most of daily trips are in crowded cities and involve less than 10Km. In stop and go traffic the average speed for a car is 15-20Km/h. Electric bikes allow you to save time and furthermore you don't need to loose time in searching for a park. A few reasons for e-biking:
  • saving time in the traffic jam
  • no problem about parking
  • ideal for running errands
  • arriving at work relaxed and without getting sweat
  • gliding up hills with very light pedalling
  • staying healthy and doing exercise everyday
  • no registration or licence required
  • saving money

Speed, range, and climbing ability of our electric bkes

How elactric bikes perform depends on several factors:

  • terrain
  • speed
  • right tires inflation
  • wind conditions
  • battery size (measured in VoltxAh)
  • weight of rider
  • motor, controller, and total efficiency of the vehicle

Range - mostly depends on battery size. The most common battery pack is a 2x12Volt - 12Ah lead acid batteries, and it takes an average rider 30km - 18miles at 25km/h – 15miles per hour on flat roads. Most of our bikes have an optional nickel metal hydride battery, similar to mobile phone batteries. Twice battery size means double range. Choose a battery pack that goes at least twice the range you usually expect to ride, and plan on about 0,03 Euro of electricity for charging for 30km - 20miles riding.
Speed - is electronically limited to meet European, US law, asking for a different controller, you can easily speed at 40Km/h - 25 miles per hour.
Climbing ability - our e-bikes are fantastic hill climbers, but usually electric vehicles are capable of running on relatively flat roads. We produce 2 different kinds of electric bicycles. Our bikes are fitted with hub brushless motors on the rear wheel or a motor between pedals. Both motors are sealed and don't require any maintenance. The first model is ideal to climb up to 12%, the 2nd solution can offer an incredible 20% climbing capacity. Do you happen to know a bicycle that performs better?

Styles of electric bikes
A bicycle is the classic transportation for kids of all ages, despite the fact that several design are on the market, we don't like introducing new designs, our electric bicycles are common bicycle by installing a special power system on a standard bicycle in order to get e-bikes with familiar styles like mountain bike, cruiser, folding. Also you can find all parts in any bike shop worldwide without problem, the parts of our bikes, including Shimano gear sets, Prowheel crank sets, Promax brakes, etc.

Riding electric bikes in EU, USA, and Japan
In Europe, USA, and Japan electric bicycles are classified as standard bicycles. So you can use it wherever and however you can use a bicycle, no driver's license, license plate, nor insurance is required. But there is a difference in what an electric bicycle is:

EU road legal

In all European countries, electric bikes must be powered by a pedal assisted system and meet following specifications:

  • motor power 250 watt
  • motor must be activated only with pedaling (PAS)
  • motor stops working at 25km/h - 16miles per hour
  • max weight 40kg including batteries (60Kg for trikes)

In Europe, only PAS bikes are classified as bicycles so that you can ride in bike lanes, the road, and even on sidewalks. For other markets we can provide an electric throttle to power the motor, it means that pedaling isn't required. PAS pedal assisted system, is a power on demand system driven by your pedalling. It means that the electric motor works in tandem with the rider's pedalling, it is activated only in response to your pedaling. According to EU laws, our motors operate continuously in the range of 250 watts, thought can peak at several hundred watts at start to offer quick acceleration.

US road legal
Current laws regarding electric bikes as conventional bicycle if max speed is less than 20 mph. We encourages you to check authority to get accurate information. Each local municipality has different regulations for bicycles including if they can ride on streets, bike lanes and sidewalks:
  • California, and Washington law - electric bicycles can be power by a 750Watts / 20miles per hour power system. No driver's license, license plate, nor insurance is required, but you must be 16 years or older and wear a standard bicycle helmet
  • Florida law - every motorized bicycle propelled by a combination of human power and an electric motor capable of propelling the vehicle at a speed of not more than 20miles per hour are recognized as a bicycle though equipped with two front or two rear wheels. No person under the age of 16 may operate or ride upon a motorized bicycle
  • Illinois law - the electric bicycle speed limit is 25miles per hour
  • Canada - regulations require adults don't need anything, but all must wear a bike helmet, kids to be 14+ years old
  • For other states, please check your state laws before riding
Japan road legal
In Japan, electric bikes can be power by a 180Watts motor.
